AAMT is an independent not-for-profit organisation currently representing over 5,500 members. The AAMT fosters high standards of ethical and professional practice and currently self regulates the massage therapy industry. These standards are achieved by recognising individual practioners for membership that hold formal qualifications defined by the Australian National Training Quality Framework though the Health Training Package. AAMT certifies massage therapists on behalf of the profession for the benefit of consumers, health fund providers, and employers.
